Cheryl Goes Blonde!

Move over Kate Middleton and your Chelsea blow-dry – the hairstyle everyone’s talking about is Cheryl Cole’s new blonde bob!

When news of Cheryl’s new look broke yesterday with no picture evidence we were all left guessing exactly how blonde she’d gone – would she have gone for Posh’s Peroxide Pixie circa 2007? Finally the first pics were leaked and we all breathed a sigh of relief...

When we spoke to Cheryl earlier this year she told us, ‘People always say blondes have more fun and I guess if you change shade, then you do act differently. When you colour your hair yourself, you can reflect your mood with the colour, I change colour to match how I’m feeling.’

Today’s her birthday and after the last few rough weeks it’s totally natural that she’s fancying a new look to boost her confidence and give her feel good factor so yesterday she went to see her trusted team of stylists, Lisa Laudat and colourist Amie Wilson from Hersheson’s salon who transformed her long brunette locks into a honey-hued asymmetric bob with subtle shimmering tones. Cheryl’s new colour is L’Oréal Paris Casting Crème Gloss in Smokey Quartz 8304, £6.12 and despite the cut she still can’t leave the extensions alone. Want Cheryl’s new hair? Just follow the advice of Cheryl’s colourist Amie...

“This look is the smokey eyes of hair, it’s the perfect dark blonde infused with sparkles. Fab for the summer! If you’ve previously dyed your hair or have a dark base (like Cheryl) you must pre-lighten with L’Oréal Paris Perfect Blonde then apply Casting Crème Gloss 8304. The colour result will differ slightly on everyone. L’Oréal Paris offers expert advice to all home colourers who can simply call 0800 0304 031 to get tailor-made step by step help to achieving their perfect shade.”

So what’s the professional verdict...?

“I wouldn’t really call this a blonde; more a toffee tone. With Cheryl’s skin tone she wouldn’t want to go too light straight away and this is a complimentary tone for her complexion. Her ‘bob’ is a long, graduated style with heavy layers and it does look like she’s still wearing her extensions for that extra volume she’s renowned for. The pap shots show her looking happy and taking it in her stride and enjoying the new look.”

“Cheryl Cole has managed to pull it off once again, another style change that works for her. The soft warm blonde tones are great for her and compliment her skin tone, unlike some of the previous red colour tones she’s had in the past which were too cool. Staying a mid blonde is definitely the right level, going even lighter would be just be a disaster for her. Midi bobs are the effortless almost grown up and grown out bobs. Cut to just on the shoulder line with soft layering to lift, add definition and ascent the face shape. This is a stylish and fresher change to her normal long extension look.”

I’m betting colourists around the world are going to busy this weekend! Bring on the Blonde Brigade!
