Last Thursday Company were invited to attend the launch of Lady Gaga's new fragrance Fame in New York. Without hesitation we dug out our meat dress, and said 'hell yeah!' (Actually, our editor went and borrowed a gorgeous Ossie Clark dress from William Vintage). The dress code said headgear or mask obligatory, so she also packed a Coco De Mer lace mask for the occasion.
The event itself was held at the Guggenheim museum and featured a giant perfume bottle sculpture in the middle of the room, semi naked men in leather harnesses and more champagne than you could ever drink. Guests included Lindsay Lohan, Paris Hilton and Marc Jacobs.
And of course it was never going to be dull - so we were treated to Gaga herself sleeping in the glass bottle for almost an hour while fans and attendees went up to touch her (we declined on grounds of weirdness).
She then woke up and had a tattoo done on the back of her neck. We suspect that entire thing was a comment on the nature of fame and everything being done in the public eye. Or maybe she just fancied another tattoo. Either way it was a memorable evening!
And the perfume itself? The first ever black liquid fragrance (don’t panic – special technology means it doesn’t make your clothes black – we have no idea how or why?) it is made up of bella donna, jasmine and apricot and is a pretty rich evening appropriate fragrance (well you didn’t expect rose petals did you?)
