Get clearer skin for the new year!

A new year means new beginnings and an opportunity to make resolutions for the year ahead. Perhaps to kick start an exercise regime, start a new hobby or give up a bad habit once and for all. But why not make a new year’s resolution to have clearer skin in 2012? Team Company tried out this amazing new acne treatment - and we have to say we're hooked!

After the excesses of Christmas and New Year, skin needs time to recover. For acne sufferers it can be particularly hard to kick start a new year as many will suffer from an increase in breakouts - not want you want when you want to look your best!

Acne is especially prevalent during the winter months, when skin naturally dries out, but the party season and string of late nights can add to these problems. Lumie Clear can help skin get back on track in the new year, bringing a smile to sufferers faces.

Based on medical research, and developed with leading dermatologists from London Hammersmith Hospital, Lumie Clear is a home based treatment that uses light to effectively reduce mild to moderate acne by up to 76% over a 12 week period.

Using powerful LEDS, Lumie Clear is a handheld treatment that emits specific wavelengths of light from the blue and red spectrum, working together to kill the bacteria causing acne and reduce the redness it leaves behind. Research and consumer feedback has also shown users may see a visible improvement after just four weeks.

Lumie Clear uses both blue and red light simultaneously so users do not need to alternate between blue and red light therapy sessions. Instead, they receive one complete treatment in one go, saving time.

Priced at RRP £149, Lumie Clear is unlike traditional treatments (such as prescriptive medication, tablets and creams) as it does not cause harmful side effects and won’t leave the skin feeling dry, oily or irritated. Lumie even provides its customers a 30 day home trial so that people can make sure light therapy works for them. Dr Rakesh Patalay, a dermatologist at London Hammersmith Hospital, said: "Light therapy is an effective but underutilised therapy in the fight against acne."

Available to purchase from, Amazon or larger High Street stores, Boots and Tesco Like all our products, Lumie Clear is certified to the Medical Device directive.

Acne is the most common type of skin condition, with around 80% of 11 to 30-year- olds affected. Here are a few common myths surrounding acne:

Acne only affects adolescents - Although most common in the under 20’s, men and women of all ages are often sufferers too and is caused by a change in testosterone levels.
Acne is caused by having dirty skin and poor hygiene - Most of the biological reactions that trigger acne occur beneath the skin, not on the surface of the skin. Therefore, clean skin will have little to no effect on your acne.
Squeezing blackheads, whiteheads, and spots is the best way to get rid of acne - Squeezing or picking your acne could make your symptoms worse and may leave you with permanent scarring.

"The condition itself can worsen at any time of the year, winter included, but what is important is to maintain your anti-acne regime. This may be scaled up or down dependant on your acne, but as long as your pores remain open, your acne will be minimised."

Lumie Clear has a detachable head for close-up treatment of specific areas, such as the back or chest, and an adjustable stand for hands-free treatment close up. For best results Lumie Clear should be used in contact with the skin every day for 15 minutes on each affected area. Lumie Clear also folds into the base for compact storage and makes for an easy travel companion.
