It was the fashion ticket of the year, so of course Company were at the British Fashion Awards 2012 last night! In a relatively intimate venue of the Savoy London what is staggering is just how close you get to genuine fashion legends. As we chatted to Company contributor Angela Scanlon, who should sweep past but Mr Valentino – Angela dashed off and got a pic and was left fash-struck!

As we sipped Champagne, we got introduced to JW Anderson and resisted the urge to nag him about the fact we've been unable to get hold of one of his bat jumpers in Topshop!

Finally we all filed into the theatre for the awards to start and ended up chatting to Victoria Pendleton about her Strictly departure (turns out she's not sorry to say goodbye to constant dance training but has loved being part of the show!)

When he wasn't schmoozing with his famous pals, Nick Grimshaw presented the awards with Gemma Arterton. They kept the evening running apace even with a few name slip ups and pronunciation problems (you try saying Roksanda Ilinic!)

Then it was back into the hotel for a very glamorous sit down dinner of smoked haddock mousse, beef with vegetables and lemon curd tart – all washed down with Espresso Martinis.

And as we filed out to get into our waiting cars, we spotted Nick Grimshaw looking for his fashion mates no doubt heading onto some other party. Company was happy to take off our heels and head for home!
