My approach to both diet and exercise is maybe not ideal, have joined a gym (and never gone) and eaten no carbs for a week and then binged on a loaf of bread, I have no willpower and frankly no energy to do this all over again this January, I\'m surely not alone?
\r\n\r\n
This is why I started surfing the net for a more alternative approach to fitness and diet, something that could change this pattern, gives me some energy, gets me motivated to get to the gym and see results and... gets me the body of Angelina Jolie (ok, maybe unrealistic on the last part).
\r\n\r\n
I found the Brook Green Clinic, London and in particular, Annie Khenian who specialises in osteopathy, cranial and visceral treatments, acupuncture, pilates and nutritional advice... and hastily booked an appointment.

I arrive at the mews house in West London, running 20 minutes late due to the tubes and getting lost therefore flustered, tired, stressed (I have a mountain of work to do on my desk rather then be here) and have no idea what to expect. On the plus side, at least she will be seeing the real me, pre-caffeine and how I\'d probably be rocking up to the gym on week one.
\r\n\r\n
She starts by giving me an assessment, heaps of questions, such as what is a normal day like for me, how do I sleep - badly\' (did you know that having a light meal in the evening can wake you in the night due to hunger?) along with a medical history.
\r\n\r\n
Annie explains that there\'s no point throwing yourself in to exercise and drastically changing a diet, you won\'t keep to it and it may not be the right thing to be doing, hence her making an exercise and diet programme especially for an individual after her full reading.\'
\r\n\r\n
She then asks me to strip to my underwear and stand there while she reads my posture, tension, bones and joints, and then asks me to do some simple moves, was I aware I lean slightly forward, therefore putting pressure on calves and ankles? That I do everything using my lower back, not good.
\r\n\r\n
I then lie on the treatment bed covered in towels while she looks at all my joints and discovers problems. She tells me I\'m slightly toxic (mainly due to modern life of microwaves and house cleaning products, something I need to ditch asap). She holds the nape of my neck for a few minutes, I ask her what she\'s doing and she\'s resetting\' me (am intrigued!)
\r\n\r\n
At the end of the session, she promises to send me my assessment and asks me to keep an honest food diary for a week (for starters quit salads in winter and eat warm food) and to learn to Tai Chi walk.
\r\n\r\n
Next week we\'ll be embarking on lymphatic drainage and some intense work on my ankle and lower legs.
\r\n\r\n
After week one I realise that actually the journey I am embarking on is one of preparation rather then an intense diet loss programme and being in top shape before hitting a gym is surely how it should be!
\r\n\r\n
Am excited to see what week two has in store...
