I spent the first 24 years of my life getting away with doing as little exercise as possible. At school I was always the one with the excuse to get out of PE (I want to know who actually enjoyed getting changed into tiny shorts in a freezing cold gym to endure a 45 minute torture class followed by an ice cold shower?!) and soon had it down to a fine art - from the age of 15 I never took part in a PE class again spending Wednesday afternoon\'s catching up with my homework\'.

Fast-forward ten years later. After four years spent at Uni enjoying the best that Leeds student nightlife had to offer, takeaways at 4am and days spent doing, well, not much, I was suddenly awoken to the fact that maybe I wasn\'t quite as toned as I thought. I realised that perhaps those people who were in the netball team had the right idea! I decided to get fit, joint a gym, got into a routine and was nice and svelt for the summer - job done. But then I hit another stumbling block. New relationship meant lazy days and nights spent with the boy rather than the treadmill, cold weather meant no way a salad would satisfy me at lunch and a new season at work brings a barrage of after work launches and the old cycle of one too many glasses of champagne and canapés (they might look little but they still count!) won me back! Plus all those evenings catching up with friends\' over a bottle of wine and bar snacks were beginning to add up!

When I heard about the Company Diet Blog I realised this was my way back. I can\'t drop out half heartedly with the Editor wanting to know my progress can I?! I will be testing the new Wii Fit to see if it lives up to the hype and if it can actually help you lose inches rather than just the hours lost playing with it (that\'s if I can get the boy off the boxing game first!)

The joy of Wii Fit is that you can do it from the comfort of your living room. Amazing on a day like today when it\'s windy, rainy and I have no intention of leaving the house let along put on my trainers. Once it\'s all set up I have a game of Tennis on Wii Sports to warm up. I was more than shocked when my Wii told me I had the Wii Fit age of an 82 year old!!! However, that may have more to do with the fact that I was lying on the sofa, hungover, playing with one hand. Hmmm, I\'m going to have to put a bit more effort in if I want to see an improvement, but the 82 thing has shocked me a bit!

Wii Fit comes with a balance board and it\'s a really clever little thing. First of all I chose a Wii Mii which acts as me in the Wii World. Next I stood on the balance board whilst the Wii calculated my BMI. I\'m so impressed by this and just can\'t figure out how it does it! This gives me an idea of where I am and where I want to be, all of which is imputed into the system along with how long I want to take to get there. My Wii Trainer (you can choose from a man or a woman, obv I went for the hunky looking he-man type) then showed me around and discussed the different ways I could shape up. I decided to try and bit of everything before we make a personalised programme for me that will be saved on the system. I was a bit embarrassed when my flatmate walked into the lounge to find me hula hooping\' on my balance board but even she wanted a go when it came to yoga. The balance board is fantastic as you have to keep yourself within a certain area that is shown on the screen. If your balance goes slightly from one side to the other the board calculates it and it is stored on the system. Not too sure at the moment that the cardio work is working but for toning and improving balance this is definitely looking promising.
