As the hotel is so new (it had only opened the beginning of March 2010) the exterior landscaping had yet to be completed, the hotel and spa iteself were immaculately presented.
The hotel is set in 43-acre parkland with wooded backdrop in St Austell. There are sumptuous suites and traditional bedrooms in the restored White House and there are contemporary-style deluxe Woodland Rooms which we chose to stay in. (there are also 22 self-catering Woodland Homes, some with two bedrooms, others with three which would be perfect for those girlie weekends away)
The service and staff was great, from the moment we arrived to the morning we left and know the area well and could't be more helpful. The hotel is in an easy location to find and also approx 20 mins from Padstow and Newquay so lots to see and do.
We ate in the fine dinning Arboretum and the food was delicious- for starters we had Quail with white onion risotto and Scallops with celeriac then for mains Beef Fillet with a potato puree and Sea bass with butternut squash. Each set meal is well worth the £50 tag.
We stayed in one of the gorgeous Woodland rooms which over look the parkland. The room came with powershower, fridge wi-fi and Flat screen TV, but all you would need is the view. The bed was one of the most comfortable I have slept in a long time!
The spa offers a variety of treatments and we had a tour of the treatment rooms - all were first class. The infinity swimming pool was nicely heated and the sauna and steam rooms suitably hot and steamy respectively! Also on offer there is a sauna and steam room and tennis courts are due to open in July 2010. I treated myself to an amazing Aromatherapy massage which left me chilled and relaxed, the staff in the spa were so friendly and happy to help it made the experience so much more enjoyable.
We will definitely be returning to see the growth of this hotel as it is truly beautiful.
