Treat yourself for the New Year

treat yourself for the new year

Nestled away from the noise of traffic, crowds and general trappings of city life, a stay in this hotel should be handed out on prescription to anyone suffering the effects of 21st-century living!

The hotel itself was built in 1885 and has recently been taken over to be transformed into a luxury modern hotel to include fine dining and spa facilities.

For a couple looking for a perfect way to relax this hit the spot.  On arrival we were shown to our room.  Despite having just over 20 rooms, the castle has everything from suites and deluxe rooms.  Our room boasted a 4 poster bed, scary looking bath that turned into a Jacuzzi.  We had 2 bathrooms and a lounge area which was perfect to take in the breath taken views of the coutryside.

The spa itself is still being worked on, but the staff are extremly friendly and helpful and I treated myself to a body massage which was divine!  The pool, steam and sauna are based in another building, which does involve a walk outside, but it is a perfect end to a tiring day!

The grounds are spectacular and a real treat to walk around, so there's no excuse for not taking a stroll during your stay.

The food is exquisite! We sat in the turreted private section of the grand dining room, looking out at the spectacular hills of the Strathearn Valley and ate venison cooked to perfection, Honey and Sesame Pork Fillet and heavenly desserts but our main treat was the amazing breakfasts!!!

New for 2009 Knock Castle Hotel and Spa has opened one of Scotland's first panoramic rooftop restaurants, the exclusive restaurant has stunning views of Perthshire and beyond is one of a kind in Scotland - complete with an outside terrace, open plan kitchen and lounge area.

By car, Knock Castle is an hour's drive from Edinburgh and Scotland's other major cities which means that you can visit them during your stay, we made a trip to Glasgow and got back in time for dinner!

Prices start from £159 a night for dinner, bed and breakfast in a standard double room, until March.
