What your spots really mean: where you get spots could be the key to curing them...

Mario Badescue Drying Lotion, £14.50

Oily skin,Spots and blemishes Mario Badescue Drying Lotion

Stockist: www.hqhair.com

\'As this product has a big cult following and lots of celebrity fans, I was expecting big things, and it doesn\'t disappoint if used as directed. It specifically targets white heads and spots that have risen to the surface of your skin - so it won\'t tackle blackheads or under-the-skin spots - but on those spots it is designed to zap, it really does the job! It\'s a blend of salyicic acid and chamomile and you have to shake the bottle thoroughly to mix up the powder and liquid before use, then using a cotton bud dab a small amount of the pink lotion (it is pretty pink, night time use only!) onto the offending spot. By morning the spot had almost entirely dried out, and after a 2nd night\'s use, had completely gone so full marks for effectiveness.\'

Nelsons Pure & Clear Blemish Gel, £8

Oily skin,Spots and blemishes Spot treatments: Nelsons Blemish Gel

Stockist: www.boots.com

\r\n\r\n

\'I really liked the fact that this gel contains natural spot-fighting ingredients tea tree oil, arnica and calendula. It felt like I was banishing the blemishes in a kinder, more skin-friendly way rather than really drying them out. The gel goes on easily and dries clear, it does smell quite antiseptic as all tea tree products do but it does the trick, just apply a small amount directly to problem areas and watch it go to work - this is especially good for the red \'angry\' spots and at £8 is great value too!.\'

Witch Blemish Pen, £4.99 (8ml)

Oily skin,Spots and blemishes,Witch Spot treatments: Witch Blemish Pen

Stockist: www.boots.com

\r\n\r\n

\r\n\r\n

\'This is a great product that you can keep in your handbag and is perfect for fighting break-outs on the go. I really liked the brush applicator - it isn\'t messy to use and means you can really target problem areas. The product itself is a gel which didn\'t sting at all and felt really cool and soothing on application, it contains pure witch hazel extract so has a natural, fresh scent that doesn\'t remind me of antiseptic creams like some spot treatments can. And best of all -  it definitely reduced size and redness of spots - won\'t be leaving the house without it from now on!\'

\r\n\r\n

\'The Elemis Tea Tree SOS Spray is so easy to use you just spritz a fine mist across your face after cleansing and away you go.  The spray is easily and quickly absorbed leaving your skin dry and ready for make-up application.  It is a really versatile product as not only can it be used as an antibacterial spray for spotty skin but it is also excellent for break-outs across the back and chest and can be used daily to purify and deodorize your feet!

\r\n\r\n

I would highly recommend this product as its multipurpose usage makes it great value for money and an excellent product to take on your hols!\'

Eve Lom Dynaspot Spot Treatment, £18

Oily skin,Eve Lom,Spots and blemishes Spot treatments: Eve Lom Dynaspot Spot Treatment

Stockist: www.johnlewis.com

\r\n\r\n

\r\n\r\n

\'I\'m a huge Eve Lom fan so was excited to try this product out. The handy nozzle gives precise application straight on the the spot. It did however look and smell just like toothpaste so I decided just to apply the cream on my red dimple at night. There was no stinging but my housemates certainly laughed when they saw me with white patches on my skin. However I had the last laugh when by morning the cream had taken down the redness leaving my skin soft without drying it out and the spots had noticeably shrunk. Pricey but really works if you have special occasion next day.\'

\'This rollerball is really handy and hygenic as you don\'t actually touch the spot with your fingers, the metal rollerball instantly soothed and cooled the area that was sore and inflamed and best of all, my spot literally disappeared overnight.\'

Kiehls Blue Herbal Spot Treatment, £14.50

Oily skin,Spots and blemishes,Kiehls Kiehl\'s Blue Herbal Spot Treatment

Stockist: www.spacenk.co.uk

\r\n\r\n

\'Thankfully, this spot treatment doesn\'t live up to its name with the blue part, but it does with everything else. The clear gel doesn\'t sting or overdry, but managed to reduce redness and swelling on the angry outbreak across my cheek overnight, with a significant improvement on day two of use. Gentle, yet effective.\'

Murad Moisturising Blemish Treatment Gel, £30.95

Oily skin,Spots and blemishes Murad Moisturising Blemish Treatment Gel

Stockist: www.hqhair.com

\r\n\r\n

\'This works really well to calm spots down - within an hour a huge and very sore spot had been tamed and made manageable with makeup! The moisturiser goes on quickly and easily but has a medicinal smell to it - but I suppose this is to be expected! I will definitely continue to use this and hopefully over the long-term it will reduce the number of breakouts.\'

Dermalogica Medibac Overnight Clearing Gel, £30.55

Oily skin,Dermalogica,Spots and blemishes Spot treatments: Dermalogica Medibac Overnight Clearing Gel

Stockist: www.beautyflash.co.uk

\r\n\r\n

\'This clear gel went on very easily, it\'s meant for use over night so you wouldn\'t want to put it on for the day and put make up on top - though it does dry without any stickiness.  (It is quite easy to squeeze far too much out of the bottle so squeeze with caution!)

\r\n\r\n

It didn\'t sting on application and felt quite calming and had a slight fresh, minty scent.

Overall, this gel did a brilliant job of preventing any big spots from forming and left my skin feeling clear and smooth\'

Alpha-H pHase Three Clearing Gel, £10.10

Oily skin,Spots and blemishes Alpha-H pHase Three Clearing Gel

Stockist: www.beautyexpert.co.uk

\r\n\r\n

\'This wasn\'t the sort of treatment you can fit into a daily routine because I had to set aside some time to use it in the evening, leave it to work it\'s magic, then rinse it off. But when I did use it, my skin felt softer and smoother. There was none of the tightness you can get after using face masks or treatments and I also didn\'t experience any greasiness. This would be the perfect treatment to use if I\'m having a break-out, as an occassional treatment, which works to clear my complexion, rather than as part of my daily routine.\'
