Our hair and make-up experts from the Session School and Lockonego salon have put together these exclusive tips on making sure your hair and make-up look gorgeous all summer-long.
Summer make-up
Dani Guinsburg of The Session School has this advice...
SPF!
It's really important to use SPF daily regardless of the weather. UV can be harmful even through clouds and as an added bonus for those living in the city SPF provides a great barrier against pollution. Dermalogica Solar Defense Booster is a great product that can be added to any moisturiser or foundation to add SPF protection to your favourite daily skincare products.
Blusher tip!
When you're not sure whether to expect torrential rain or scorching sunshine, then Daniel Sandler Watercolour is a brilliantly versatile and easy to use blusher. You only need a tiny drop of this cheek stain which blends easily into the apples of your cheeks. This long lasting blusher won't rinse off in the rain and won't be smudge off sweaty cheeks, leaving you prepared for all weather types.
Seal your make-up!
Illamasqua sealing gel is a great product that waterproofs any eyeliner; perfect for those hot sticky or cold damp days. You can even use a liner brush to mix the gel with your favourite eye shadow shades to custom make your own waterproof eyeliner that dries quickly and lasts for hours.
Summer hair
Jonathan Long of Lockonego salon has these insider tips...
Straightening balm!
Whether it's humid or rainy a good straightening balm is essential to prevent frizz. Alterna Hemp Straightening Balm is a brilliant humidity resistant product that also provides heat protection when styling.
Plaits!
Another simple trick is to wear your hair in this season's style; Leona Lewis' signature fish tale plait. Created by Ben Cooke from Lockonego this style is easy to achieve and keeps frizz-prone locks under wraps.
Jonathan Long says: 'Braids of any kind are a great summer style. For two looks in one, plait damp hair in the morning into your favourite braided style then for an effortless look in the evening simply remove braids for ultra summery beach wave hair.'
Ponytail!
On hot summer days a great tip is to slick hair back into a tight ponytail using conditioner. Not only is this a chic look that looks great with sunglasses but it also provides hair with a fantastically moisturising treatment leaving locks phenomenally glossy and nourished.
