Umm, six Grammys and Queen of the BRITs? We are not worthy, Adele. One of the biggest vocal sensations of the decade, Adele captured the nations heart with her soulful voice and frank confessions in her debut 19, and then sealed the deal three years later with her critically acclaimed album 21.
Cue awards overload. Her enduring power and respect within the industry has cemented Adeles status as a music and style icon, also inspiring a revival of the classic 50s beehive hairstyle and flicked cat eye eyeliner.
Women Who Rock: Adele
Companys editor, Victoria White, says, "Show me somebody who doesnt have Adele on their iPod. Exactly."
Beauty editor Sophie Qureshi adds, "Adele really knows what suits her and the heavy flicked eyeliner looks amazing with her big hazel eyes. When she first came onto the scene, she definitely knew how to work a retro hairdo with her cool beehives and side ponies." The voice. The hair. Theres a lot more to look forward to from Adele.

Florence is one of the biggest musical influences in fashion today, acting as a muse to designer Karl Lagerfeld and inspiring many a bohemian- influenced editorial throughout 2011.
Florence and the Machines 2009 debut Lungs was an instant hit, producing singles such as Dog Days Are Over. Company editor Victoria White says, "Florence turns heads with her signature gothic style, and, quite frankly, you cant go anywhere without hearing that unmistakable voice."

Florence's look is very distinctive, with her flame-red hair, alabaster skin and deep-red pout.
Companys beauty editor, Sophie Qureshi, says "Her shaggy fringe and messy waves create a really cool, ethereal look."

Women Who Rock: Lily Allen
She made us sit up and listen with her sunny pop hits, then we fell hard for her quirky London style.
Music icon Lily burst on to the scene in 2006 and changed the music industry by ushering in a new generation of fun female singers.
Her debut, Alright, Still was an instant pop classic and she quickly became our go-to for urban street style.
Women Who Rock: Lily Allen
Company editor Victoria White says, "Before Lily, the music scene was bland. Her ballsy attitude means she can wear whatever she wants."
She has evolved from prom skirts and trainers and gradually refined her style to become a vintage boutique entrepreneur, these days favouring Chanel.
"Everyone loves Lilys look 60s eyes and dishevelled, glossy hair its pretty but still a bit cool and undone," says Companys beauty editor Sophie Qureshi.

Women Who Rock: Jessie J
Jessie J is the kind of strong, stylish pop icon weve been waiting for since the 90s ended and girl power slipped off the radar.
Beginning her career in an oh-so-21st-century manner, Jessie was already a signed artist, writing hit songs for pop stars around the world, when a 2009 YouTube clip of her belting out tracks from her bedroom went viral.
Fast-forward a few years and Jessie is an international sensation.
Women Who Rock: Jessie J
Company editor Victoria White says, "Tracks like Do It Like A Dude and Price Tag set the tone for a fresher music scene. And her fashionforward look makes her stand out."
Jessie has become a modern-day music icon while blazing a trail for not playing by the fashion rules.
Beauty editor Sophie Qureshi adds, "Jessies blunt-cut, glossy black hair and statement make-up have become her signature. And her Union Jack lips inspired women to have fun with their make-up again!"

Women Who Rock: Kate Bush
Kate Bush is one of musics most influential women, with stars from Florence to Gaga owing her a massive debt. She pirouetted into public consciousness in 1978, when, aged just 19, she released Wuthering Heights.
Her tales of dashing heroes and ethereal heroines, sung in her trademark falsetto, marked Kate out as very different from the rest of the pop crowd. Company editor Victoria White says, The fact she made this years BRIT Award nominations shows her enduring popularity.
Fash-wise, floaty dresses with chiffon batwing sleeves and skin-tight spandex leotards were her style staples. In the beauty stakes, she loved a red lip, while her wide-eyed expression was achieved with a rim of black liner around her eyes, lashings of mascara, and heavy grey and green eyeshadow.
Wildly backcombed or crimped hair topped off the look. Beauty editor Sophie Qureshi says, It was quite a boho look but with a rocky edge she had the personality to pull it off. Kate released her latest album at the end of last year to rave reviews. Heres to the original queen of quirk!

Women Who Rock: Dusty Springfield
Dusty Springfield was the soul siren with the huge, smoky voice and eyes to match. She burst on to the scene with I Only Want To Be With You in 1963 and her iconic appearance, and a voice dripping with pure emotion, brought her international fame.
“Her music still sounds great today, more than 40 years after she recorded it,” says Company editor Victoria White. “Amazing!” What’s more, in the 80s and 90s, her career was revived thanks to a collaboration with The Pet Shop Boys and the inclusion of Son of a Preacher Man on the Pulp Fiction soundtrack.
Image-wise, over-the-top falsies framed Dusty’s kohl-rimmed eyes, topped off with heavy charcoal shadow and statement brows. The focus on the eyes meant the rest of her make-up was underplayed – porcelain skin and ultra-pale lipstick finished the look. Company’s beauty editor Sophie Qureshi says, “Dusty’s 60s beehive hair and smoky eyes were copied all over Britain – and we’re still copying them now!”
Big eyes, big hair and an even bigger voice – Dusty is much missed, but her style will live on forever.

Duffy first burst on to the music scene back in 2008, when she had us all singing along to the insanely catchy Mercy.
Taking her own brand of blue-eyed soul from the Welsh valleys to the Hollywood Hills, the international success of debut album Rockferry bagged her three BRITs the following year for best newcomer, best female and best album. Did anyone NOT have Duffys album back in 2008? asks Company editor Victoria White. "Her sound has been much copied since but, at the time, it felt exciting to hear a proper, strong female vocal!"
The retro vibe of Duffys music is echoed by her distinctive hair and make-up. With her feline-flicked black eyeliner and big, blonde bouffant hair, shes clearly been inspired by 60s sirens such as Dusty Springfield, while also setting a future trend for our most-wanted style of this years party season: the beehive (see p82 to get the look yourself!). Women Who Rock: Toyah Wilcox
With her flame-red, blunt-cut hair, extreme make-up and matching attitude, Toyah Willcox was doing the edgy vocalist thing before Jessie J and Florence were even born. After emerging from the UK punk scene, she cut her teeth starring in cult classics like Jubilee and Quadrophenia (check out its original take on this seasons Mod trend!). In the 80s, she found her niche in the pop charts, where her feisty personality, unique dress sense and backcombed hair established her as Britains edgier female popstar, without terrifying the hell out of everyone. "I LOVED Toyahs look and used to raid my Mums make-up bag to try to copy her," says Companys Editor Victoria White.

Love her or hate her, you cant ignore Victoria Beckham. She who brought us the Pob, the pout, and perfected walking in ridiculously high heels. She was the Spice Girl who put the laydee into Girl Power and nabbed Britains most eligible bachelor in the process. Even today, she is the celebrity success story we cant stop watching. "VB has totally reinvented herself as a credible fashion icon, with her own signature look, here and across the Atlantic," says panellist Shannon Watts.
When five loud, excitable girls: Sporty, Scary, Baby, Ginger and Posh, burst on to the scene in 1996 in a flurry of zig-a-zig-ahs, we sat up and listened. At a time when boy bands ruled the airwaves and dominated
our bedroom walls, we needed something different. During the late 90s, these five girls changed the music scene forever. They remain Britains most successful girl band, paving the way for the likes of All Saints, Sugababes
and Girls Aloud. "Im not ashamed to admit that Stop Right Now is still one of my all-time favourite get-me-on-the dancefloor songs well, Im a little ashamed but its the truth!" says Company Editor and namesake Victoria.
Glam, chic and always immaculate, we watch and learn about the new jean, heel or It-bag. And for this, Mrs Beckham, we salute you.

When we needed judges to decide on the top ten British women who have changed the face of music forever, and inspired with their beauty look, we needed a core set of judges. On the panel were Company editor Victoria White, beauty editor Sophie Qureshi, singer Olly Murs, Rimmel's marketing manager Shannon Watts and BBC 1Xtra DJ Gemma Cairney - and we think they did a fab job!
