She's got a new radio show on 6 Music, will be on the red carpet at the BAFTAs, has just finished her first novel. We grabbed a few words with the lovely Lauren Lavern in between her manic schedule...

Lauren Laverne

How's the new show on 6 music going?

I've been doing the 10-1 show now for five weeks now and I'm loving it! Last week I was laughing how ridiculous it was that my work was such good fun!

It's the Brits next month who do you want to win?

I'll be going to the Brits with the radio team so really looking forward to it. I'm hoping that Florence and the Machine clear up - it's been a great year for her. I'm looking forward to her performance with Dizzy as it should be amazing! I'm keen to see if she'll wear heels - she's a lanky lass like me and Dizzy is not a tall man so Florence won't want to tower over him!

You'll  be at the BAFTA too is that right?

Yes. I'm hosting the E coverage of the BAFTAs so I'll be on the red carpet asking everyone what they're wearing, and chatting to the winners. There have been loads of great brit flicks this year. I particularly loved  Moon staring Sam Roswell and the new film Sex and Drugs and Rock and Roll - that was a great watch!

You're also hosting a Fight Cervical Cancer in Style event next week...

Yep, me and Miquita Oliver are hosting a night to raise awareness to cervical cancer next Tuesday. The evening promises to be star-studded with with performances from The Sugababes, La Roux, Paloma Faith and Pixie Lott. I can't wait!

How did you get involved with the charity?

A few months ago they asked me to become an ambassador and I was really happy to accept... It's an amazing organisation bringing awareness to a disease that kills three people in the UK every day. I think it had a big impact on me because it affects so many young women - anyone that has had sexual contact is susceptible - and yet it's one of the most preventable cancers through just having a jab!

We've also hearing a lot about the book you've got coming out this summer what can expect?

I always wanted to be an author so it's been a privilege. It's taken me over a year to write it and it was hard but I'm really happy with it now!

What's the story about?

It's an indie fairy tale about a girl who grows up in a little village and then discovers her dad is possibly a huge rock star that will performing at Glastonbury and she makes the trip there to go and meet him!

So busy times ahead with promotion for that - any other plans?

Not yet - hopefully bit of time to relax and spend sometime with my new baby! Oh and fingers crossed I'll be at Glastonbury again...

Thanks Lauren!
