TEAM PETE!

Peter Andre

It's Monday morning and there's a crowd of girls - ranging from babies, to teenagers, to mums and nans - all chanting "Team Pete" outside the Virgin Media store in the Westfield Shopping Centre. People stop and stare as the queue stretches around the outside of the shop and a team of men in suits with walkie talkies stroll around organising them. It's fair to say everyone has something to say about the Peter Andre/Price split and we're well within the picket lines of Camp Pete here.

But what these women really want is for the man himself to sign their copies of his new album Revelation, out today. And they're not letting anyone get in their way. After an hour of anxiously waiting to hear the new Peter Andre songs, he steps outside and with a little smile and a pile of Virgin gadgets in his hands he cuts the ribbons to screams and camera flash bulbs go off. The crowd surges forward and it's suddenly clear these girls won't let anyone get in their way. Luckily, Company grabbed a five minute catch-up with the man himself...

You're here to open the new Virgin Media store today...

I'm a gadget freak so this shop is of particular interest to me! It's a great store and everyone talks about Virgin Broadband being the fastest.

You've got the fans screaming outside!

I know, it's great! I can't wait to meet everyone. I put it on my twitter because I love meeting the fans. In fact ever since I got signed at 16, and I'm 36 now, so for the last 20 years, I've loved meeting the fans.

They're all clutching copies of your new album...

It's very nerve-wracking, releasing an album is like waiting for test results. But anything that happens with this album I'm grateful for, we've done our bit and hopefully people will like it. The first signs last night were good, it went in at Number 3 on iTunes which is amazing.

You've described the album as a diary, so it's quite personal then...

Yes, some people write autobiographies but I prefer to do it this way. There are some personal songs, some pure club songs that have nothing to do with my relationship (with Katie Price) at all and then there are some that are just feel good summer songs. It's a mixture of urban, pop and club.

Tell us about your favourite song?

Unconditional is my favourite. It's about my son Harvey and it talks about unconditional love. In this instance it's saying that Harvey taught me how to become a father before I became a dad. It's a strange situation when your first child is your step son and then you have your biological children. Harvey and I have a special, special relationship. It's a thank you song to Harvey, telling him that now I understand what unconditional love means.

Your single Behind Close Doors, shot into the charts

That was brilliant. I know I've got to earn my place and respect in the music industry, but without the major radio stations' support it still went in at number four. I was ecstatic.

And you've bagged a new job as a reporter for This Morning?

I'm very excited, ITV have been very good to me from the moment I went into the jungle until now. They've been amazing. I'm honoured to do stuff with them. As for the jungle I won't be going back in, but hopefully I will be doing something on the reporting side for them.

What are your hopes for the future?

Work wise I really want to go on tour, and to do more television stuff. I'd love to eventually be an anchor man...have you seen the movie Anchorman? I'm not as funny as Ron Burgundy but I'd love to do that. In my personal life I want to bring up my children as best as I can.

And I think we might be a little Team Pete too...
