Hello, my name is Katie and I am 21 years young from Liverpool. As well as this being my first ever music festival, I was also given the prestigious honour of blogging for Company Magazine at V Festival 2011!

The weekend had finally arrived! I woke up at 5am feeling like it was Christmas Day. I had my last shower for the foreseeable next few days, and brushed my teeth with vigour hoping the Colgate Max One White would work its magic!

Due to my Colgate winning smile
and crutch! A passing Police mobile took pity on me and I ended up with a 'VIP' ride to the V Stage just in time to see Scouting for Girls! This is a much better mode of transport then getting a piggy back any day!

The highlight for me on Saturday night had to be both Rihanna and Eminem's sets. Everyone around me was buzzing with anticipation and excitement for them to appear on stage. I am seeing Rihanna on her tour at the end of the year so I was looking forward to getting a taster of what great things were to come! As always, she put on an incredible show. She sang classics such as Disturbia, Shut Up & Drive, Only Girl in the World and S&M. I am not a massive fan of Eminem, but wanted to see him because it is very rare for him to perform in the UK and it would probably be the last time for a while.

Meeting a wide variety of new people is all part and parcel of festival life. It was a real pleasure to meet Mandy and Wayne who travelled in from the Lake District. They epitomised festival fever by managing to notch up ten consecutive years of attending V!

Deciding what to wear for a festival is a girl's worst nightmare! Trying to find several outfits that are in trend, suitable for the weather and provide comfort all at the same time! These lovely girls managed to tick all the boxes so I snapped them all with my Olympus Tough TG-310 which is perfect for festivals as it won't break if you drop it in the mud!

On Sunday, I headed towards the Glee Comedy Tent, which like myself, was making its debut at V Festival! Everyone loves a bit of comedy so it is perfect for V to host the comedy tent and provide festival goers an alternative to the music. I went to see the 'King of one liners' Milton Jones who is known for his appearances on the BBC show Mock the Week. It was a very relaxed atmosphere in the tent and I thoroughly enjoyed Milton's quirkiness!

We were very fortunate with the weather over the weekend! Although the rain did have to make an appearance, thankfully it was a brief one and it did not dampen our spirits but it gave our RedFoot Fold-down festival wellies a workout!

The festival came alive at night with fairground rides once the music finished at 11pm. However I thought it was rather expensive
£5 for what seemed to be a two minute ride. That said, there were plenty of people queuing for the Dodgems, Funhouse, Ghost Train and most expensive of all the Bungee which cost a staggering £25 in daylight hours and £30 once darkness fell! Well out of my league, I wouldn't have the money, nerve or bottle to contemplate it but it seemed to be a winner with the crowds!

To get in the spirit of festival fever, a number of people decide to do fancy dress! Throughout the weekend I spotted many costumes; Batman & Robin, The Hulk, Scooby Doo and a Box of Crayons! My favourite costume had to be this guy as Gingerbread Man from the film Shrek! I couldn't begin to imagine how hot it would be to wear the outfit the entire day!

My highlight for the last night at V Festival had to be the Kaiser Chiefs. All I can say is WOW! They sang songs such as Every day I Love You Less and Less, Never Missed A Beat, Modern Way, Ruby, The Angry Mob and I Predict A Riot. The crowd (including myself) went absolutely mental and we were putty in their hands! Lead frontman Ricky Wilson kept running from one side of the stage to another and at one point he even jumped into the crowd, but sadly not near me...

With my baggy eyes, heavy heart and ringing ears it was time to head homeward bound to Liverpool! As this was my first festival, I didnt know what to expect (except to beware of the portaloos!).
