Amy Winehouse might still seem a bit shaky at times, but according to her dad, Mitch, she has now been off drugs for a whole year.
The BBC reports that the former cabbie made the claim while speaking to MPs about an upcoming documentary in which he investigates the rehabilitation services available to drug addicts.
Of Amy's treatment, he said:
"We were very fortunate - we were able to afford the best doctors, clinical psychologists, rehabilitation and hospitals. We're making a film about people who can't afford it and unfortunately we found there are very few facilities and very little help available for people like that."
He went on to tell the Home Affairs committee that problems had been created by the present funding structure for medical care, claiming that heroin users are "desperately committing offences just so that they have a chance of receiving treatment".
If Amy really has been off the drugs throughout 2009, it looks like she has no real accuse for those rumours that she's been back in bed with Blake, but, of course, it's still great news - particularly since her third album might finally get to see the light of day. It's currently pencilled in for a release next year.
