Beckhams' court victory

David Beckham

The Beckhams receive a high court apology from a former nanny who breached their confidentiality

Good news for the Beckham household today, as Victoria and David received a High Court apology from their former nanny, who disclosed confidential information about them to two tabloid papers.

Abbi Gibson, who worked as the couple's nanny between May 2003 and March 2005, gave an interview to the News of the World in April 2005, which detailed private information about the family in an article called 'Beckhams behind closed doors'.

The Beckhams' solicitor, Gerrard Tyrrell, has said that court proceedings against Gibson have made the ex-nanny "accept that she should not have breached her duties of confidence to David and Victoria Beckham and their children by speaking to the News of the World".

Gibson also gave an interview to The People after she resigned, which falsely stated that she had received phone calls from David of an offensive and threatening nature.

Tyrrell added: "The People have already publicly apologised for making this false and defamatory claim and have paid damages to David Beckham."

Abbi Gibson has now been banned from speaking about her working life for the Beckhams in the future.
