You might have though it was all over, but you won't be able to escape from Carrie and the girls even if you want to next year. The movie sequel has been pencilled in for a May 2010 release date, and now it's been confirmed that a Sex and the City prequel is being published too!
Although it was announced that Candace Bushnell planned to pen The Carrie Diaries a while back, according to People, it has been confirmed by the publishers that it will be published in April 2010.
Set during Carrie Bradshaw's high school years, it's claimed that the book details the rising fashionista's early relationships, first love and how she began her career as a writer, while the cover art specifically references an incident between the character and her mother.
We think it's unlikely that Sam, Miranda or Charlotte will feature, since Carrie didn't meet them until later in life, but we wouldn't be surprised if a few other characters popped up.
While Sarah Jessica Parker might be rumoured to be considering a third installment of the film, we're not so sure that the actress could fight off the years to play Carrie in a prequel (even though they've attempted flashback scenes in the movie sequel).
