And another one bites dust… We guess it must really be the season to split, because following on from yesterday news that Courteney Cox and David Arquette had separated, it has now been confirmed that Christina Aguilera and Jordan Bratman have also gone down the same route after five years of marriage.
A source close to the couple, who met in 2002 when Jordan worked on one of the singer's albums, yesterday alleged that they "have been separated for a few months," while Christina herself confirmed in a statement:
"Although Jordan and I are separated, our commitment to our son Max remains as strong as ever."
Only a year ago the 29-year-old pop star had gushed about how "blessed" her marriage, but another source blabbed to Us Weekly that their relationship has recently deteriorated, explaining:
"They were very much in love. But over the last six months, it became clear they were more like friends than husband and wife. Christina even proposed their August trip to Italy to rekindle their relationship, but it didn’t help."
And on two-year-old Max, they continued:
"He is their main concern. She has a lot to juggle, but she’s learning how to make it work and balance it all."
