Dakota Fanning rumoured to be appearing in a sequel to The Wizard of Oz
It seems like only yesterday that Dakota Fanning was playing Tom Cruise's cutsie kid daughter in War of the Worlds, but she's all grown up now and landing roles to match...
Following on from Twilight follow-up New Moon and Joan Jett biopic Runaways, the 15-year-old is set to take the lead in a sequel to The Wizard of Oz, the Technicolor film that first propelled Judy Garland to fame in 1939.
The film's producer, Basil Iwanyk, told WENN:
"It will be set in the present day and feature Dorothy's granddaughter."
While co-producer Todd McFarlane added:
"You've still got Dorothy trapped in an odd place, but she's much closer to the Ripley character from Alien than a helpless singing girl."
With Tim Burton giving Alice in Wonderland a modern spin this year, we think this is just the start of a trend for revamps.
