Despite being the one-time favourite to win, Danyl Johnson has become the ninth person to be voted off ITV show after the voting public deemed that his performances of 'Man In The Mirror' and 'I Have Nothing' lacked the X Factor.
As it was the semi-final, there was no bottom two, so after counting up the phone votes, it was announced that he won't be appearing in next week's final, to which he responded:
"I may have gone out in the semi-final, but I've gone out to some of the best people I've ever met. It's going to be an amazing final for them.
"I've met some best friends for life. I'm just going to see what happens. I'm looking forward to seeing my family, my friends, and playing a couple of gigs."
His mentor Simon Cowell added:
"I said before we came on stage, there's nothing I would have changed, nothing more he could have done, it's just one of those things. He's gone out on a high and he's a graceful loser. I'm genuinely, genuinely a) upset, and b) glad I had the pleasure of working with you."
The means that Olly Murs, Joe McElderry and Stacey Solomon will compete in next week's final and undoubtedly land the Christmas number one.
