Heath Ledger has been nominated for a posthumous Oscar for his role as The Joker in The Dark Knight. And the prestigious posthumous honour comes on the first anniversary of his untimely death, after his accidental overdose in his Manhattan apartment.
Heath won the Golden Globe last week for Best Supporting Actor, so many have already speculated that he will share the same honour at the Oscars next month.
"Everyone is expecting Heath to win. It's so tragic that he lost his life before he was able to reveal what a truly talented actor he was, but his role in The Dark Knight shows the potential he had and he deserves this award more than most."
Kate Winslet has also been nominated for Best Actress for her role in The Reader but missed out on a nomination for Best Supporting Actress. But being as humble and modest as she is, we doubt she'll mind too much.
