Despite the fact that he has had well-publicised problems with the dreaded drink and was even shown in a YouTube video crawling around the floor trying to eat a burger in a video released by his own daughters a few years ago, the 56-year-old is insisting that his hospitalisation over the weekend was not because of alcohol poisoning.
He explained: "Yes, I had a few drinks. Yes I checked into the hospital. But it wasnt for alcohol poisoning and no theres no police report about a 3.9 blood alcohol level, thats completely made up. I dont know where that came from no police report."
But the actor is trying to see the funny side.
"My girlfriend Kimberly brought me an article this morning thats pretty funny," he added.
"It said something like: You know youre an icon when the reports say that you checked into the hospital with alcohol poisoning, that you were intoxicated, that you checked into rehab, you died, came out of rehab and youre having an affair with gerbils."
Gerbils? Are you sure you haven't been drinking again, David?
