Lindsay Lohan alleged to have copied designs for her 6126 fashion range
All eyes are going to be on her Unagro A/W collection next month following last season's flop, but Lindsay Lohan has a few other problems to deal with first after being accused of copying designs for her own leggings by two separate designers.
According to WWD, James Lillis, designer of Black Milk Clothing, took to his blog, toomanytights.typepad.com, to draw attention to the similarities between Lindsay’s 'Diamond' leggings and his own 'Sheer Spartan' ones. Next, Fashionista.com has pointed out that Lindsay’s geometric dress is very similar to a Jen Kao dress Lilo wore only last month — to which Kao responded to WWD, explaining:
"While we are all well aware that being 'mimicked' or 'copied' has always existed in this industry, I think the evolution of it all has grown to an alarming level. It’s a shame to support the concept of taking advantage of designers who are still trying to develop a name and solidify the image of their design aesthetic."
Although Lilo herself has yet to respond to the accusations, her 6126 President Kristi Kaylor has defended the actress, saying:
"The alleged 'copying' claims made by these companies are false and have absolutely no merit or validity whatsoever. Any alleged similarities are purely coincidental. The 6126 illustrations for the upcoming fall 2010 collections do not even describe the fabric content, fit or actual construction details of the garments. This is merely an accusation based upon a pencil sketch with no concrete viable evidence to back up the allegations."
So much for Lindsay Lohan's plan for a drama-free 2010 - it was only a few days ago that she was blasting a former friend for stealing sketches for her line.
Bet she wishes she could run back to St Barths, where she was pictured earlier this week.
