Lohan charged and warned

Lindsay Lohan attended her court hearing yesterday dressed in white, to perhaps display her angelic side, as she was formally charged with the theft of a £1,250 necklace.
The 24-year-old star was given a stark warning by the judge in the Los Angeles Superior Courthouse and informed that she would face jail if she committed any crime, no matter how small, before her next hearing on February 23.
Superior Court Judge Keith Schwartz told Lohan: "If you violate the law I will remand you and set no bail. Look around this room. Everybody else has to follow the law. You're no different than anyone else. So please, don't push your luck."
The Hollywood starlet, who was given the special warning because despite her previous discretions, this is her first felony charge, was then taken into custody and formally booked with the offence, with another mug shot taken.
The Mean Girl star's bail was set at $40,000; $20,000 for the probation violation, relating to her DUI arrest dating back to 2007, with another $20,000 for the alleged theft.
Her lawyer Shawn Chapman Holley, who recently "vehemently denied" the allegations against Lohan, said the actress was ready to pay the bail.
Lohan maintains that the "one-of-a-kind" piece of jewellery was loaned to her by the boutique in LA and that her stylist had forgotten to return it on time. She was seen on surveillance cameras leaving the shop with it on and was photographed still wearing it one week later.
Lohan will be back in court on February 23.
