Mischa Barton is being sued by her landlord for up to three months of unpaid rent for NYC apartment
Just as actress Mischa Barton seemed to be putting her recent troubles behind her, the star is currently being sued by her landlord over three months of unpaid rent. Letting agency MRA Realities Inc are claiming that the former 'O.C' star, who was placed under psychiatric evaluation last August, owes rent for her apartment in the fashionable TriBeCa area of New York.
The 23-year-old, who put her troubles last year down to botched surgery on a wisdom tooth, has owned a house in LA for several years but began renting the £3,500-a-month apartment in NYC after she relocated to star in US series 'The Beautiful Life' last year. But the series, directed by actor Ashton Kutcher, has since been axed due to poor ratings.
A lawsuit was filed in Manhattan Supreme Court on Thursday, in which the agency is demanding that Mischa pay back over £11,000 in rent plus their legal fees.
MRA's lawyer Joseph Burden said: "She [Mischa] lived there for September and October, then moved out and quit paying."
Mischa recently landed a role as a pregnant prostitute called Gladys in 'Law & Order: SVU', which is currently being filmed in New York.
And though her lawyer refused to comment on her legal situation, he said of her latest job: "Everything's going swimmingly on set."
Let's hope the same can be said of her personal life soon...
