Naomi Campbell's driver apologises
Naomi Campbell says she 'won't be held hostage to her past' as driver apologisesto the supermodel over assault claims and any damage it may have caused
Just a day after reports that Naomi Campbell won't be charged for the alleged assault of her chauffeur, the man in question has now come forward to apologise for his original claims.
On Tuesday, driver Mejdina told police that the notoriously bad tempered supermodel had punched and slapped him from behind, causing his head to hit the steering wheel.
But now Mejdina has retracted his allegation and instead apologised for his original statement, and any further damage it may have caused her reputation.
He said: "This whole thing has been blown out of proportion and I apologise to Ms. Campbell for causing that to happen."
Campbell is renowned for her less than lady-like behaviour; in 2006 she was charged with 200 hours of community service for assaulting her housekeeper with a BlackBerry and in 2008, for the assault of two police officers at Heathrow airport.
But now the 39-year-old has released at statement to Us magazine in an attempt to redeem her character and claim that she should not be judged on her past actions.
She said: "On Tuesday, March 2nd, I was accused of unacceptable behaviour towards a driver in New York. I have worked very hard on correcting my previous wrong doings and I will not be held hostage to my past. I try to treat everyone with respect and I am pleased the driver has apologised. I would like to put the last few days behind me and move on."
