Patrick Swayze loses his battle with pancreatic cancer
Patrick Swayze passed away with his family at his side in Los Angeles yesterday.
The actor, who has given us some of our favourite lines from movie history, was diagnosed with pancreatic cancer at the beginning of last year and underwent chemotherapy. He still fought on though and starred in the US TV show The Beast whilst penning a memoir with wife Lisa Niemi. However, a statement was released last night saying:
"Patrick Swayze passed away peacefully today with family at his side after facing the challenges of his illness for the last 20 months."
Tributes have already starting coming in from his friends.
Jennifer Grey released the following statement:
"Patrick was a rare and beautiful combination of raw masculinity and amazing grace. My heart goes out to his wife and childhood sweetheart, Lisa Niemi, to his mom, Patsy, and to the rest of their family."
While his Ghost co-star Demi Moore said:
"The love inside, you take it with you.' I love and will miss you Patrick."
