As Pete Wentz and Ashlee Simpson continue to file for a divorce after almost three years of marriage, it's being claimed that Pete was finding it difficult to trust Ashlee and that the couple had been discussing splitting "for ever."
US sources are claiming that 26-year-old Ashlee dealt with their impending split by going out most nights, which made the 31-year-old Fall Out Boy bassist worry about where she was and what she was doing.
A source told Us Weekly:
"Ashlee has been out late partying for the past few months. She would lose track of time. Pete started getting burnt out by her antics, and would constantly check in on Ashlee, and he'd have his friends call the house and her cell to make sure she said she was where she said she was going to be. He felt like he couldn't trust her."
Ashlee and Wentz, who have a two-year-old son called Bronx, announced their split by releasing the following statement through their spokesperson:
"After careful consideration we have made the difficult decision to file for divorce. We remain friends and deeply committed and loving parents to our son Bronx, whose happiness and well-being remains our number one priority. We ask that everyone honor our privacy as we navigate this next phase of our lives."
They married in 2008 after dating for two years and while the actress and singer was three months pregnant.
The couple have cited "irreconcilable differences" and Ashlee is seeking joint legal and primary physical custody of Bronx as well as spousal and child support.
