Twilight superhunk Robert Pattinson has revealed he recently enjoyed an anonymous road trip from Los Angeles to New Orleans because "no one" had the faintest idea who he was.
The 24-year-old Hollywood hunk shot to superstardom after winning us over starring as the delectable blood-sucking Edward Cullen in the hugely successful vampire franchise, and usually can't even step out of his front door without being mobbed by paparazzi or hysterical female fans or both.
But the British actor managed to escape the trappings of fame with two friends as he set off on a road trip to Baton Rouge, where the first part of the final Twilight instalment, Breaking Dawn, is being filmed.
The star, dating on-screen lover 20-year-old Kristen Stewart, stuck to "service roads" to explore his journey through the US's southern states and enjoyed being a world away from his frenzied life in LA.
Speaking to Vanity Fair, the star said:
"It was awesome. I went on service roads the whole time. I navigated it on an iPhone. It didn't seem like America at all. Me and my friends were the only white people.
"No one recognised me or anything. And I was like, 'Ah, this is really cool', sitting there eating chicken wings and stuff."
Sadly for RPattz, his affair with anonymity didn't last long after fans found out about his whereabouts, causing police to arrive and promptly escort Pattinson and his friends back to his hotel.
We can see Robert Pattinson on the silver screen in Water For Elephants, co-starring Reese Witherspoon, next month.
