Has Sandra Bullock got a terrible short term memory? Despite the fact that the actress (pictured along with fellow nominee Meryl Streep) has been given nearly prize going during award season, she claims that she wasn't expecting to land an Oscar nod. In fact, she didn't even set her alarm for the early wake-up following the announcement (the list is released at 5.50am in Los Angeles).
Speaking to People about her Best Actress nomination for Blindside, she claimed:
"[husband Jesse James] literally rolled over in the dark and he said, 'Congratulations'.
"I had to leave the room so he could continue sleeping the man actually works!"
On how she's dealing with it now, she added:
"There's no basking I'm just chewing the coffee grounds in the horrible cup of coffee I made myself this morning. I made a French press in the dark."
Meanwhile, fellow nominee and last year's winner, Penelope Cruz added:
"I am completely surprised and elated. [Nine director] Rob Marshall is not only a genius but an absolute joy to work with. I woke up every morning excited to collaborate with this amazingly talented group of actors. Filming this movie was such a special experience and to be nominated for this role makes me so happy."
Surprised? Anyone would think that these actresses had been hiding under a rock while the press have been speculating about who might win...
