Sarah Harding has shocked fans by dropping the mother of all bombshells upon us... The reputed party animal is leaving Girls Aloud, but just for a year, to concentrate on her acting career. Harding, 27, will star as a schoolgirl in upcoming movie St Trinian 2, and is to appear in a more serious role for the highly anticipated BBC 2 drama, Freefall, to be aired tonight.
Of her time in our favourite girl band, the blonde star confessed: "It's not fun when it feels like groundhog year. We've been on a treadmill for six years and need a break."
Cheryl Cole has recently touched down in LA in an attempt to conquer the US and Nadine Coyle sets up her own business across the pond too, could this signal the end for Girls Aloud as we know it?
And the star added: "Acting is good for me because I've always been called a drama queen."
We'd never have guessed...
Let's just hope the girls enjoy their break from grueling tours to emerge next year refreshed, bigger and better...
