Tess Daly talks for first time on TV about sticking by Vernon Kay and that their marriage is "worth fighting for" following his sex text scandal
Tess Daly has given her first TV interview since husband Vernon Kay's confession to sending explicit text messages to a string of women. The 'Strictly Come Dancing' presenter has insisted that her marriage to the fellow presenter is "worth fighting for" and that the pair have enjoyed "ten great years together".
The 40-year-old star told BBC's 'The One Show' last night: "It's been tough as you can imagine, but I've taken some time out to think things through and at the end of the day we've had ten great years together, we've got two beautiful kids and we both think that's worth fighting for."
Kay apologised to his family on his Radio 1 show after admitting to sending explicit text messages to around five women. He added that he had been "foolish" and "stupid".
You can say that again...
Daly added to presenter Adrian Chiles: "Dealing with it in private is difficult enough but dealing but with it in public is even harder, at the end of the day I've had so much support from everyone that I meet really, not just family and friends, that has really touched me a lot and has been amazing."
Daly had told a publication last month that she believed marriage was for life and had hoped to follow in her parents' footsteps. She had said: "Our parents were married for life so that's the attitude I've gone into marriage with. That's what I expect. There was no divorce in my family. I know times have changed and divorce rates have gone through the roof but I've gone into it with an optimistic viewpoint."
Vernon Kay is one lucky chap...
