But the Arcadia owner insists that he and the 36-year-old supermodel have other fashion projects in mind despite the end of her clothing range with his brand.
Speaking to The Sun, the British businessman said: "About two or three months ago, we came to the decision that it had lost that edge, and we'd lost what our purpose was. It's different now to when we started and probably became too overloaded.
"It wasn't working. We all got bogged down. We were trying to produce these big collections, but it was too difficult and we needed a rethink."
He added: "We discussed it and decided this was the way to go. It isn't a split. There are two or three very special projects we have in mind, which we will do as and when. They have to be unique, special and they have to have her stamp on them."
The star's upcoming line will be her 14th for Topshop, which she has been helping to create since 2007. Last year the mother-of-one joined Green to help launch the very first Topshop in New York.
It's currently being reported that Green's 19-year-old budding designer daughter will take over the range.
