So tell us what inspired you for your new record… Motown and early 90s feel good music. And I was inspired by dance music, I just absolutely love it- period. I grew up listening to nothing but gospel and RnB. From the moment I heard dance music on the radio I was just like “Looovvee it!” It feels great.
If we only had time to listen to one song it should be… A very intimate record called “Keep It Between Us”.
Who would you like to get “down for whatever” with? Well what’s your interpretation of “Down For Whatever?” Because I’m noticing everybody’s is different- everybody jumps right into the sack and I’m not that girl! I’ll be down for a dance, I’m down for flirting with you but the whatever part? We’d have to decide what exactly “whatever” is.
Noted. Who’s rocking your world this side of the Atlantic? I love Labrinth and Emeli Sande- she sounds so great live.
And your verdict on Alexandra as guest judge… I was really happy Alexandra came to my rescue because I was feeling as sick as a dog so I thank her. I didn’t care about what everybody said, I don’t really trip off of it because for me I was sick and I don’t have to fake for nobody!
Who’d you like to personally perform with from the show? Janet, Misha or Marcus Collins. And I like Little Mix too, I love those girls.
Is Sophie still booked for your wedding? Yes she will be! I love Sophie’s voice I really hope she continues to work hard if she definitely wants a music career. We’re going to keep in touch, her voice is, oh my gosh, it’s like butter!
And if you were a contestant, who’d you love as a mentor? Janet Jackson, Whitney Houston or Mariah Carey. I didn’t say a word when I met Whitney because she’s the woman who inspired me to sing so I couldn’t then with Janet I stumbled over every word but she is very nice and always seems to understand what is coming out of my mouth!
We’ve got to be honest, we’re jealous you get to hang out with Barlow! And touch him a lot! Barlow is so cool. And what I love about Gary is he’s a good man. I see him with his wife and his kids and I see him as a musician and I respect him! And if you see a Take That concert you have to become a fan! After I saw one I was clicked on every album on iTunes!
Ok we’re also jealous of your style. What’s your favourite shop on our high street? Topshop definitely. I spend a lot of time there.
Got a favourite designer? Alexander McQueen! Long live McQueen. My favourite piece is a coat I bought about two years ago it’s, it’s a super hot coat. I’ve got three hot coats from McQueen, fitted in the waist, no actually I have four!!
You probably need them over here! And where would we find you in London? One, The Langham Hotel because I love their sticky toffee pudding. Another is Nando’s because there’s not an hour in the day that I would not eat Nando’s and the third is Hakkasan. And I just named all food because those are the best places to be- places with food. I’m a girl who can eat!
