How did the band meet?
Darren and Mike set up a decorating company so that we could make some money and have a free rehearsal space! We’d be painting walls and blasting out all our favourite tunes at the same time.
So how did you end up being spotted?
We were having a cup of tea and a little sing-song before work one day and this woman came over and said we were great. We didn’t think anything of it but then she called and said she was from Warner and invited us in for an audition!
Amazing. How did the audition go?
Well we gave it our all and after we’d been in there a guy said, “I think you might have just given yourselves the best Christmas present ever” We went straight to the pub next door. We were drinking pints but our hands were just shaking! We couldn’t believe we might have just changed our lives.
Is it true that your album only took three months to complete?!
Yeah with our arrangement putting a song together comes quite quickly! But it was long days and tough work! It ended up being this really happy-sounding album that we’re so pleased with.
How would you describe your sound?
Our style is authentic and especially relevant at the moment with people like Plan B and Paloma Faith, but you haven’t really got a group making that sound. The girls have been leading the way with Amy Winehouse and Duffy. Our sound takes it back to the days of bands like The Drifters, but adds a modern twist.
Will you give us a little song then?
Amazing – we love it! Sure you’ll be a massive success. So what’s the dream?
We’d really love to play at The Royal Albert Hall one day or as cheesy as it sounds, we’d love to perform on Strictly Come Dancing! We'd get all the dancers from the show doing routines from the fifties or sixties around us - how good would that be?!
