Vagabond at the V Festival: A band to watch...

Vagabond at V Festival

We grabbed the Vagabond boys just minutes after they made their V festival debut. They performed a fantastic set on the Virgin Media Union stage but were bitterly disappointed it got cut short. "We only managed to play 5 songs which was really frustrating because we had the whole set planned and then had to juggle things around a bit so we could end on one of the up tempo power songs," says lead singer / songwriter Alex Vargas. "But we got a great response from the crowd who booed the crew when they told us we had to get off!"

If you haven't heard of Vagabond yet, you will do soon as they're produced by the hit factory Xenomania - the people behind Girls Aloud and the Sugababes. Their brand of mixed up rock, pop and soul - think a mash up of Motown, Michael Jackson, Prince, the Stones and Led Zep (all of who they say are idols) is both catchy and cool. Their first single Sweat (Until the Morning) was followed this month by Don't Wanna Run No More which like I've Been Wanting You is an epic sure-fire hit. Check the tracks out on their album You Don't Know The Half Of It - out now.

They've supported James Morrison, The Saturdays, McFly and The Script on tour and been hailed by The Guardian as possibly being the world's biggest new band.

Having met them, heard them and hung out backstage (they offered us a roll up) Company have been thoroughly charmed too. Plus they're all seriously cute - there's Alex on vocals who looks a bit like a young Michael Hutchence, Luke on lead guitar, Sam (with the afro) on bass, Stephen on rhythm guitar and Karl on drums. And girls if you want to get their attention wear something different the next time you go to see them perform - try a catsuit or wellies with a dress (or even better with nothing else on at all!). When we asked them what they liked to see women wear at festivals, er, that's what they came up with - mainly because they're bored with seeing everyone looking like carbon copies of Kate Moss. Vagabond we agree and are going shopping for our Hunters now . . .

* Vagabond performed on the Virgin Media Union stage at the Virgin Media V Festival this weekend at both Hylands Park and Weston Park.
