Man of the month - Robert Pattinson

Born in London on 13 May 1986, Robert Thomas Pattinson first came to our attention when he appeared in Harry Potter And The Goblet Of Fire as the dashing young Cedric Diggory.

The early years

Robert began acting when he was 15 years old. After trying his hand at a couple of amateur plays, Robert joined the Barnes Theatre Club and acted in several theatre productions including Tess Of The D\'Urbervilles, Macbeth and Anything Goes.

A star is born

Of course Robert is best known for his portrayal of Edward Cullen, the sexy vampire with a heart from Twilight. Adapted from the novel of the same name by Stephenie Meyer, Twilight has transformed Robert Pattinson into something of a deity in the eyes of millions of young women across the world. "I\'m always doing interviews or going into rooms where everyone is screaming," says Robert. "I go to different cities in the world for screaming sessions."

A man of many talents

Robert is also a talented musician and can play both guitar and piano. If you want to listen to some of his music, two of his songs are featured on the Twilight soundtrack, Never Think and Let Me Sign.

Six-pack regime

When Robert landed the role of Edward Cullen he decided to shape up for the topless scenes he was required to do in the film. His exercise regime included three hours of kickboxing and two hours of running a day.

Scary stuff

Two weeks before filming began on Twilight, Robert was told that the shirtless scenes had been axed because he\'d gone too far. "I just looked so different," said Robert. "I was so much more muscular than I had ever been in my life, but I looked weird."

Robert\'s double life

Up until Robert was 12-years-old, his two sisters Victoria and Aurora used dress him up as a girl and introduce him to people as Claudia. "Twelve was a turning point as I moved to a mixed school and then I became cool and discovered hair gel," says Robert.

Robert\'s star sign is Taurus. According to western astrology, Taureans are notoriously stubborn, loyal, generous, creative, kind, lazy and have a ferocious temper.

Robert\'s muse

Robert has cited several actors and directors as an inspiration over the years, but it is Jack Nicholson who fires his artistic imagination the most. "I aspire to be Jack Nicholson. I love his every single mannerism. I used to try and be him in virtually everything I did, I don\'t know why. I watched One Flew Over The Cuckoo\'s Nest when I was about 13, and I dressed like him. I tried to do his accent. I did everything like him. I think it kind of stuck with me."
