Does that body come with the dress, Rihanna? Whilst our envious eyes match the skirt perfectly, the svelte star managed to accessorize the yellow and green skirt with a wisp of blond through her hair. With Rihanna causing a \'disturbia\' on the red carpet, it\'s no wonder Chris Brown kept a beady eye on his missus during her dress rehearsals with T.I.. Let\'s hope she took her umbrella-ella-ella as the showers of compliments were rather heavy!...Ok, enough of the lyrics now.

If Christina really is a "Genie in a Bottle", you would have thought she could conjure herself a bra to support those post pregnancy puppies. Sags aside, however, she looked fab on the red carpet in this mermaid-esque number, which she teamed with iridescent jewellery and two-tone nails.

What is black, red, stripy and bursting with angry music? A festival tent....or Pink? It\'s hard to distinguish the two with this Alexis Lamontagna number, but if you tried to find the entrance to this carnival creation, there might be a rather violent reception! The platinum rocker later performed her new single, "So What", looking somewhat better in a black leotard and leather jacket.

These two prove that fashion sense doesn\'t necessarily improve with age! Miley Cyrus successfully rocks a 20\'s inspired flapper dress with patent platforms and a gold necklace, whilst Katy Perry clashes gold with silver, feathers with diamantés, and exposes legs AND cleavage! Nevertheless, Katy\'s look obviously impressed 15 year old Miley, as the two shared a much anticipated kiss on the red carpet. The smooch was a bit of an anticlimax though - it was nowhere near the scale of the 2003 Britney-Madonna-Xtina performance!

Miss Hilton\'s dress satisfies all the trends this season as it combines body-con with gothic chic, whilst using exposed zips and lace for added detail. Her black satin Louboutins complement the outfit well, and the look is topped off with neon nails and rock-chick bangles. There\'s room for another Nicky in that dress though, so it is clear that the Hilton sisters\' competition to best resemble a lollipop is ongoing.

More sparkly than scary, Mel B spiced up the red carpet wearing an on-trend silver and pink sequinned mini-dress. The former Spice Girl was accompanied by her hubby, Stephen Belafonte, with whom she\'s set to renew her wedding vows as part of a magazine deal worth over 360,000 dollars!

Pictured here with Paris Hilton, who presented Britney Spears with the "Best Pop Video" award, Russell Brand\'s comments were even more controversial than his obsession with wearing trousers that would fit Barbie. He opened the show by pleading US citizens to ‘vote Obama\' and then proceeded to call George Bush a ‘retarded cowboy\' who, in the UK, would not be trusted with a pair of scissors! Brand also slated the Jonas Brothers for their vows of abstinence considering that women are now falling at their feet. The brothers were later defended by Jordin Sparks, however, who argued that not everybody wants to be a ‘slut\'...ooh, sparks are flying (not lots of Jordin\'s, obviously, although that would be a spectacle).

Is it a genie? Catwoman? Or Zorro? Nope, it\'s the ‘reinvented\' Christina Aguilera and the Clark Kent clones! Having performed a remix of "Genie in a Bottle", which would not have seemed out of place at Eurovision, and showcased her new single, "Keeps Getting Better", Xtina and her dancers drove off at 10.45pm in a golf cart. Her performance failed to impress though as the extreme choreography meant that Christina had to lip synch - rather badly by all means.

The polar opposite of her performance at last years MTV Video Music Awards, it appears we all now ‘want a piece\' of Brit as she scooped three out of three awards for her "Piece of Me" video. Pictured here looking stunningly svelte and with skin to out-shimmer the dress (one of her SIX wardrobe changes), let\'s hope Brit has enough pieces to prevent her falling apart again! However, Perez Hilton later revealed that Britney\'s wins were nothing more than a ‘sympathy vote\' from the VMA judging panel who took pity on the star for her troubled year.

Rihanna stole the night. She appeared on stage in a concrete wedding cake style creation prior to her "Disturbia" performance as a zombie queen. Rihanna later joined forces with T.I. to present a medley of songs which, rather bizarrely, included a remix of "Numa Numa" by O-Zone.
