Last seen playing Robbie - the heartthrob from Angus, Thongs And Perfect Snogging - Aaron Johnson looks set to have a rather interesting acting career ahead of him. Empire Of The Sun : Celebrities of the future: Hot new faces for 2009
Keep your eyes peeled in 2009 for this gaudy pair of Aussie blokes whose band,
Empire Of The Sun, are surely destined for greatness. Luke Steel (formally of
Sleepy Jackson) and Nick Littlemore (formally of
Pnau), have already conquered Australia with a ridiculously catchy slice of pop called Walking On A Dream. On top of producing great music, the duo have fashioned themselves a pair of psychedelic personas which no doubt pay homage to their film-filled childhoods. "We are superheroes," announced Luke to the BBC. "We are Emperor Steele and Lord Littlemore." Really? Excellent work, then.

La Roux : Celebrities of the future: Hot new faces for 2009
More electro-tinged pop arrives in 2009 in the form of achingly cool duo La Roux. Managed by the same people as
Klaxons, La Roux have already released one single (Quicksand) via hotter than hot record label
Kitsune, but we\'ve been told to expect bigger things this year as the pair gear up to release their debut album with big hitters,
Polydor Records. La Roux\'s mission statement is to make great pop music and bring back crazy ‘80s hair (see lead singer Elly Jackson\'s
Flock of Seagulls-esque cut above). Influences include Prince, YAZOO, Blondie, The Knife and Justice.

Matt Smith : Celebrities of the future: Hot new faces for 2009
When, after months of hype and speculation, the BBC announced that the man set to become the 11th
Doctor was a young chap called
Matt Smith, the world collectively yelled "(Doctor) Who?!" At 26 years old, he\'s the youngest actor ever to take on the role, which officially becomes his after David Tennant steps down in 2010. Matt\'s CV is a mixed bag which includes stints as a footballer for Nottingham Forrest and Leicester City youth, followed by theatre work which at one point saw him star opposite

He could be the next Robert Pattinson if he plays his cards right. Set to appear in this year\'s Harry Potter And The Half Blood Prince as Hermione\'s swaggering love interest Connor McCormack, 21-year-old Freddie Stroma certainly has the dashing good looks - but does he have the charisma to become ‘the next big thing\'?
