Stomach-flipping, heart-wrenching and tongue tingling, every girl dreams about being swept off her feet by the perfect hero which is exactly why we've put together our favourite movie snogs of all time...

1. Australia

After a pretty stressful time herding 1,500 cattle across the scorching Kuraman Desert and fighting off the Japanese in Darwin, Hugh Jackman and Nicole Kidman's long awaiting kiss comes as the heavens open, drenching them both and signalling the end of a long dry season.

2. Breakfast at Tiffany's

What is it about kissing in the rain? No one can ever forget the long, lingering kiss Paul and Holly share towards the end of Breakfast at Tiffany's as the rain poured down on them.

3. The Whole Wide World

A full on both-hands-on-the-face kiss. The passionate kiss Renee Zellweger and Vincent D'Onofrio share in The Whole Wide World is probably the most passionate lip-locking embrace ever made and it's safe to say that our love lives have never been the same again.

4. Romeo and Juliet

When Leonardo DiCaprio and Claire Danes embrace in a forbidden long-awaited kiss our hearts skipped a bit. But then, anything involving hot Leonardo has that effect...

5. Gone With The Wind

Scarlett struggling against Rhett's firm hold makes the moment when she finally surrenders and allows him to kiss her full on the lips even more romantic and makes even the most hardened feminist heave a longing sigh at the TV screen.

6. Shakespeare in Love

We can't help but hold our breath as Gwyneth Paltrow's bandages are slowly unwound by the gorgeous Joseph Fiennes leading up to moment of their forbidden kiss and, when the moment does arrive, we can't help but envy Gwyneth...

7. From Here to Eternity

Despite this kiss being probably the most re-enacted scene ever nothing quite beats the original. With rolling, crashing waves in the background, Burt Lancaster throws himself on top of Deborah Kerr locked in a passionate kiss.

8. The Princess Bride

So pure, so innocent, and every girls fantasy growing up, the kiss between Cary Elwes and Robin Wright goes down as our favourite childhood memory.

9. The Notebook

After seven years of waiting and serious heartache (he's built her a house for god's sake) Rachel McAdams and Ryan Gosling leap into one another's arms and hungrily kiss each other. Their sodden clothes and the pouring rain only add to this scene from probably the saddest film ever made.

10. Titanic

‘I'm flying! Jack!'

It doesn't matter how many times we watch this film it just gets better and better. We can't blame Kate Winslet for giving up all her riches for a brief, tragic love affair with Leonardo DiCaprio and their first kiss and subsequent steamy scene in a car makes this film the best love story ever told.
