My friend Alice Baxley came on tour with us in the US starting in Phoenix to document the Girl Gang adventures. Here's an inside insight into what it's like being on the road in a girl gang! <3
My friend and also the guy who engineered Girl Talk, Jeff Ellis came to Phoenix. His parents live in Arizona so I got to meet them. My manager's parents also live there, so we were given homemade brownies and cookies by my manager's mum!
We played an amazing record store before the show, where I met a bunch of fans and bought cool records. My fans are the best in the WORLD! You can't beat them. Two girls handmade these incredible girl gang jackets! They are sick!
Jumpin' and crowd surfing!
MY FANS ARE THE SWEETEST AND THE BEST!
The San Diego gig was on a college campus, which was like an American teen movie! I went swimming with some jocks and then hung out with the sorority girls. We chugged some kegs and then watched the Aquadolls play! They are this awesome female-fronted West Coast band that opened up for us on the West Coast.
I have been getting my piano out on tour again. It's been really fun to play the old classics.
A quick touch-up before going on stage!
I'm wearing British designer Alice Palmer for the show.
It was my sister Helen's birthday in San Francisco! I got this dress from a vintage shop - it felt very 70s and flower power, perfect for San Fran.
My mum's cousin Michelle is like the rock 'n' roll Martha Stewart and she lives in San Fran with her husband Mike. They are the nicest people ever! And they put on the greatest parties. They made a vagina cake for Helen! My mum and dad and my sister's best friend also flew out as a surprise, so we all partied hard in San Fran. It was a very special evening, a lot of vagina cake was eaten and a lot of gin was drunk.
Wearing Bas Kosters and playing the incredible Filmore.
The Filmore is one of my favourite venues in the whole world! It is beautiful. They have cool traditions like they make cool posters for bands that sell out on their first time playing, so they have one of my posters up in the venue! They commission local artists to make the posters too, so they all look really striking and unique.
I'm on two phones! One phone interview and texting/tweeting on the other - multitasking 2013-style.
LA was emotional. It was our last show of the tour. We had some incredible bands support us on the road, including Potty Mouth, La Sera, The Aquadolls, Emmy The Great and Skating Polly. I fell in love with them all. Skating Polly feel like my sisters now. I love them so much. They are incredible artists, make sure you check them out. I sang on their song "Blue Obvious" at the Fonda.
We played at a venue called the Henry Fonda in Hollywood. It has a great backstage area with hundreds of posters all over the back wall. It looks awesome. I did a shoot for Urban Outfitters before the show.
Linda (my guitarist) and I also did a session for Revolt TV before the show. Rebecca Minkoff gave me this amazing Matrix-style coat that I cannot stop wearing! And I've also got my faithful Terry de Havilland boots on.
I ALSO played a small acoustic session upstairs on the outdoor balcony before my show for an Internet show and my street team, and some fans made me this beautiful flower crown out of fresh flowers. So cute <3
Our final Girl Gang stage invasion on the road!
