We couldn't be more excited about this news! Joanna Lumley (AKA Patsy) has revealed that the BBC are bringing hit sitcom Absolutely Fabulous back to the small screen for the first time in seven years, while the BBC says it's "putting the finishing touches" to a deal to resurrect the sitcom Absolutely Fabulous
Lumley's chain-smoking PR character Patsy Stone rose to fame in the 90s, alongside her on-screen best friend, Jennifer Saunders' fashionista role of Edina Monsoon, before the show (sadly!) ended in 2004.
While Lumley spilled the beans last year that the pair were in talks to bring the series back - she has now confirmed filming will begin this summer (2011).
She has said (via Britain's Hello! magazine), "In late August I start filming on three episodes of Absolutely Fabulous, which we are all ecstatic about."
However, we may have to wait a little while before we actually see the new series as Lumley has said the episodes are only in the early stages: "Miss Saunders has been so busy writing (TV spoof) Uptown Downstairs Abbey for Comic Relief and also Spice Girls: The Musical, I don't think she's started (the script)!"
