Company caught up with VV Brown just before she took to the Virgin Media Union stage on Saturday. Looking hot in a customised Top Shop black chiffon flowing top and boob tube body jump suit (her stage outfits are made for her by their designers) she explained how she planned to go on stage in a jacket with a huge circular Elizabethan style collar - "I'll look like a black Queen Elizabeth and a bit Grace Jones"! We also predict a new trend for wearing multicoloured nail varnish - hers in blue, purple, orange and pink looked fab and funky! Here she tells us why she never gets nervous, how much she's missing her boyfriend and showing her bum on stage!

So how do you feel about performing today - are you nervous?
Festivals are fun and any opportunity to share your music with people is great. Luckily I don't get that nervous about playing any more because I've done so many gigs now. What I do still get nervous about is that no one will come and see me! I'm a bit of a perfectionist too so it's all about making the performance better than the last one and trying different things to see what works.

Have you played at V before?

Yes last year I performed in a really small tent. I'd just got signed and no one really knew who we were - so only about two people turned up to watch! I used to go to festivals when I was younger - Glastonbury was a favourite - I went with friends, got drunk and saw my favourite bands so it's a real achievement to be performing at them now! I did the John Peel and Pyramid stage at Glastonbury this year and have just found out I'm going to be doing a debate with the Libertines at Reading next weekend on whether independent music can survive in the modern day music industry. I'm really looking forward to that.

What's your favourite track to sing at a festival?
It depends on the festival - in Japan they all went wild for L.O.V.E but in the UK I tend to end with Shark in the Water because everyone can sing along with me.

Your outfit is great - are you teeming it with towering heels?
I'm a hippy chick at heart so I'll often go on stage barefoot - my stylist always tells me off but I need to feel free when I perform.

What other bands are you going to try and see?

I've never seen the Noisettes live even though lead singer Shingai is a good friend of mine so I'd like to see them and the Killers.

What are your festival essentials?
Wellies, antiseptic wipes and an extra mobile phone charger - it's a nightmare if you get lost from your mates and your battery goes dead. I've had that happen to me a few times!

Will your boyfriend be in the audience today?
No sadly he's in Copenhagen at the moment and I'm really looking forward to seeing him when he gets back. He's a musician too so it's difficult with both our schedules but as long as we've both got Skype we can keep in touch.

Have you had any disasters on stage?
Yes! I was performing at Camp Bestival and didn't realise my leggings had a hole in the bum! There was a little hole underneath too and I wasn't wearing any knickers. Then the two holes split to make one big one so you could see my bum and my vagina! My tour manager had to run on stage and put a sarong around me. There's a picture on Twitter (see it here: http://twitpic.com/bqc9g) I'm not too embarrassed about it though because my bum looks HOT in it! I'm quite proud actually!
