I’m really excited! It isn’t my favourite song of the competition so far but it’s a really lovely song, I hope I can do it justice.

I think everyone is! The talent is so big, you can’t call who’s going to go no more.
So how are you finding the Leona comparisons?
I think it’s really lovely, I’m really flattered by it. I got mis-quoted the other day saying that I didn’t like it, which isn’t true. I just feel really honoured, she’s an incredible artist and so talented.
Who’d you love to collaborate with?
The Verve.
Any strange fan moments?
One man tried to give me a gift but his hands were shaking so much and he had tears in his eyes. It was really touching but the X Factor staff wouldn’t let me take the gift from him. I’ve mostly had clothes and nice letters and cards otherwise.
Has it been a good week?
Yes we went to the Pride of Britain Awards with Cheryl which made me open my eyes and think of life in a bigger perspective. It shows you that the little things you worry about are not so important.
It’s a celeb fest there isn’t it?
Yes I met Jermane Jackson! The Jacksons are life-changing stars to me so I was like wow! And he met my mum which was really nice. I hope I can take her to more places like that; she gets backstage to meet a few of celebs after they perform.
So hoping you get to the final, who’d be your dream duet?
I would love to get that far, probably Whitney Huston, I’d love that.
Would you blub like Alexandra did?
I probably would yeah! Whitney’s the one who originally inspired me to sing.
How about who’s your fave ever X Factor contestant?
It’s a toss up between Olly Murs and Stacey Solomon- I’ve met Olly and he’s really down to earth and a lovely person and I’ll be voting for Stacey in the jungle, she’s braver than me, I couldn’t do it, I’m frightened of everything!
Any celeb crushes?
It’s so strange but I haven’t got any! I’m dead-focused on this, but I have been thinking maybe I need to meet someone, just no-one’s caught my eye lately. Hopefully soon!
Well who was on your wall as a teenager?
I don’t want to say but I used to like Peter Andre years ago when he did Mysterious Girl and I liked Take That as a kid, Gary Barlow was my favourite. I liked the blonde spiky hair!

And honestly how many parties have you guys had?
At the studio on a Sunday we all get to see our family and have a little drink and chat but nothing too crazy. We have had a few little parties in the X Factor house but nothing mad, just a little dance.

The One Direction boys are really lovely to me and look after me.
And if you could duet with any of the other contestants...
Well I’m looking around the room now and I think my voice would complement the best with Paige’s. Or Aiden, he’s got an interesting voice.
Finally got any lucky rituals?
I always get in a panic just before going on stage on Saturday because I’m always never sure on the song, but that keeps me grounded. I used to have my mum’s lucky pearls but I can’t find them no more, they’ve gone missing. I lost them two weeks ago but she says she’s going to get me some new ones.
Ah well here’s hoping the luck continues, pearls or no pearls!
