What is it?
The Hanbury Club is one of Brightons legendary venues. Housed in a Grade II-listed building (originally built in the 18th Century as a mausoleum for the Sassoon family) the building has been called a jewel in Kemp Towns crown. It underwent a £60,000 refurbishment last year to bring it back to its former glory by loving owners Chris Edwardes and Amanda Blanch (also of Blanch House Brighton).
Why is it hot?
The Hanbury club has the truly glamorous feel of the 1920s. The art-deco inspired surroundings, award winning cocktails and champagnes by the glass combined with brilliantly mixed-up music and wonderfully original club nights make The Hanbury a great hub for quirky folk who want to enjoy something different.
What's the music like?
Varied. Because the club has a mixture of rotating nights, music could be anything from Latin jazz to the swinging 20's. They also have resident DJs and disco-tastic 70s nights - among others...
What to wear?
Your best vintage dress, fake lashes and your highest heels.
Entry fee?
Usually a small entry fee of around £3-5 applies. Occasionally you need to buy tickets online to ensure entry.Drink prices?
£3 for a pint and upwards of £3.50 for wine or spirits. There's also a fab selection of cocktails - as it's what their award winning bar staff excel at, we recommend treating yourself to a tasty martini or two.Regular nights?
There are lots of fun nights at The Hanbury Club including salsa and burlesque nights but they rotate on a monthly basis. Best to jump on their website for an updated schedule.
What's the vibe?
The Hanbury is extremely inclusive rather than exclusive. As long as you don't rock up in your latest chavtastic outfit and arrive with an open mind, you're guaranteed to have a blast. Not one for the stag or hens parties though.
Bouncer scare status? Push over or guest list only?
As with all of the staff at The Hanbury, the bouncers are really rather nice! They'll chat to you on the door and best of all, help you hail a cab.
When should you rock up?
If you come early enough on some nights you can enjoy dinner followed by entertainment and dancing.
