What is it?

A former male-only salon now catering to the lovely ladies of Brighton.

Why is it hot?

Females from all over Brighton rejoiced when Spruce flung its doors open to them in July 2008.

Featuring both hairdressing services and a treatment room, Spruce is a small but welcoming salon in the heart of Brighton's Kemptown. The front area is a low-key hair salon with some cool design touches including incredibly comfy seats for those having a trim, to phallic looking cacti and industrial décor. The treatment room at the back is small and minimalistic compared to some of Brighton's more opulent spas, but we thought it was a refreshing (and relaxing!) alternative.

With a perfectly manicured finger in many pots, Spruce offers a fantastic range of treatments from massages and facials to hypnotherapy sessions and holistic options such as reflexology. Products include Bumble & Bumble as well as Aussie power brand Dr Lewinn's, the newest anti aging superstar to come from down-under. And, if you're after some more intense anti-aging magic, Spruce also offers Botox and collagen treatments.

In terms of your hair - you can have it coloured, trimmed or simply removed. Johan, the owner of Spruce, is on hand everyday armed with his cutting kit and celeb gossip. Treatments range from £22 upwards.

Treatment

This City Spy girl has clearly been partying too hard over the festive season and went for the incredibly revitalising Dr Lewinn's Skin Renewal Facial. After god-knows-how-many glorious minutes with my handsome technician Allen, I emerged with shaky knees to see my skin glowing like it hasn't done since birth! Thoroughly recommended!

Treatment price?

Prices are very reasonable and go up to £28-£90 for face and body treatments. A Skin Renewal Facial costs £45.

Best part?

The hot but (unfortunately girls) gay therapists! And the fact that Johan and the rest of the staff here are unbelievably friendly and don't go in for the traditional but bland hairdresser chat.
