Why is it hot?
After spending some time (and money) in the chic Clifton Village exploring the lovely boutiques, admiring the architecture and dining in the numerous cafes and bars, you will delight in visiting the tranquil Atkinsons. I love the smell of aromatherapy as you enter the spa and the gentle music - together they tell you that it is time to switch off and leave all your worries at the door behind you. Atkinsons offers everything you would imagine in a beauty salon (massages, wraps, nails, tanning, waxing, tinting etc), but their treatments boast a more holistic approach and are designed to improve well-being and health. They also do a lot of detox, cellulite and slimming therapy which are popular with the celebrities that come here. Due to their collective wealth of experience, they even create some of their own treatments. I tried their unique non-invasive colonic cleanse which involves ridding the colon of toxins through massage, aromatherapy, reflexology and pressure points - it was such a blissfully calming treatment. Great for those who are too squeamish to endure having a pipe put up your bottom! They offer some great girly days too so you can come along with your friends for a bespoke party package.
Recommended therapist?
The therapists are all really friendly and skilled, but Lyn the manager has a wealth of experience and is very happy to explain the treatments to you, or talk about how she can treat a specific problem you may have.
Treatment price?
The non-invasive colonic cleanse costs £55, and the treatment lasts for an hour.
Best part?
The best part is definitely the heated beds and the faux-fur blankets that they snuggle you up in - it's so cosy and warm that you almost drift off to sleep.
