Why is it hot?
As you walk in, it is clear that McQueens take hairdressing very seriously, and with mirrors covering nearly every available inch of wall space, it is clear that you won't walk out of here with anything other than perfection sitting on your head.
The staff clearly know what they are doing, so I there was no hesitancy in agreeing to a new hairstyle which Emma thought would suit me (even if it did involve chopping off my fringe which I'd been so painstakingly growing out). Throughout the cut, my stylist explained what she was going to do and how I could make my hair fab at home - where (unfortunately) there's no pro shoulder to cry on when my locks look more ‘neigh' than ‘yey'.
McQueens also have great offers for those whose purse strings are tighter than their hair bands. On Mondays and Wednesdays, students get 20% discount, or you could pop in on a Tuesday (named ‘Happy Tuesdays') to get a free cut and finish if your hair is being coloured.
Best treatment?
McQueens pride themselves on their hair extension package - claimed to be the ‘Best in Bristol'. You will receive a full consultation and colour match, a pre-hair treatment, extension application, cut and styling, products to use at home...I could go on for as long as the extensions themselves, but check out the website if you're interested (plus get 10% off the price).
Recommended stylist/technician/therapist?
I was chopped and changed by Emma (senior stylist and salon owner), and I have honestly never felt so confident in the hands of a hairdresser.
Best part?
Peace of mind is important to me when getting bits chopped, waxed, plucked and so forth; so the confidence and professionalism with which Emma lopped my locks made the experience very enjoyable.
Worst part?
Hearing the price of the ‘Extension Package' (£695), having heard the amazing things it includes!
