What is it?
This is a spruced up old-fashioned lido but it has a spa to boot.
Why you should go?
The pool is a delight to swim in and is overlooked by an outdoor Jacuzzi, an indoor steam room and sauna, and a café and restaurant where good food is served by personable staff.
Bristol's Victorian Lido, dating back to 1849, has undergone a major transformation with the addition of three further features to the refurbished outdoor heated pool.
On the ground floor they have created a relaxed poolside bar that serves freshly baked pastries first thing in the morning right through to drinks and little plates from the menu in the evening.
The Lido Spa is a place to escape day to day rigours and discover true holistic treatments in Bristol's most tranquil spa location. Your treatment also incorporates some precious 'my time' in the Spa Tea Room.
The spa offers a range of treatments including the Ananda facial (£50) and Blissful experience body scrub (£50). They also offer treatments for men, the most popular is the Kundalini back massage, a detoxing and rebalancing treatment using light massage and chakra healing techniques.
Food and drink..
Enjoy green tea, cappuccino and chocolate cake in the relaxed café and bar area, and little plates of wood-fired corn on the cob with hummous outdoors at dusk after a long swim.
Upstairs in the restaurant the lunchtime meal we tried was delicious - a herby chopped salad with tahini dressing and flat breads
There's a full wine list, plenty of light meal options, and you can eat here in your robe if you so choose.
