This boutique club – the only one on Newcastle’s Diamond Strip – is truly eccentric: there are waterfalls, real fires and ornate chandeliers giving it a mystical touch. Watch your drinks being made at the sunken bar before hitting the dance floor. When it all gets too much you can chill out in the heated shisha garden.
\r\nWhat to drink: If you can’t stretch to the limited edition 10k bottle of Dom Perignon - we said this place was OTT! –the cocktails are good too.

Yes, it’s attached to the town’s ‘it’ place to stay, Myhotel - known for its stylish design and fengshuid interiors - but this cocktail bar in the trendy North Laines is a star in its own right. The vibe is futuristic with metallic walls, hypnotic plasma screens and a fish tank, but still comfortable – the feng shui works here too. Sink into a soft cream sofas feeling zen while the barmen their magic.

\r\nWhat to drink: While it’s still summer, we’re going for a Jade Garden – gin, elderflower cordial, homemade jasmin syrup and lemon and apple juices (£6.50)
